Since 2006, Royal Coffee has proudly supported Grounds for Health, an extraordinary nonprofit that has partnered with coffee cooperatives and local health organizations to create sustainable cervical cancer prevention programs in Latin America and Africa. We’re thrilled to introduce our limited-edition hoodie, with all proceeds going to support this vital cause.

The Mission of Grounds for Health

Grounds for Health operates at the critical intersection of coffee and health, addressing a pressing issue: cervical cancer. This preventable disease is a leading cause of cancer death among women in low-resource countries, yet it is entirely curable when detected early. Grounds for Health provides accessible, effective cervical cancer screening and treatment to these communities, focusing on regions where coffee is grown in Ethiopia and Kenya.

In the nearly two decades since their founding, Grounds for Health has made remarkable strides:

• 232,536 women screened. 19,103 women treated.  
• Grounds for Health train community health educators to teach their communities about cervical cancer and the importance of preventive screening. By partnering with local governments and organizations and offering ongoing capacity building, we ensure that women have sustained access to life-saving care.
• They began introducing HPV self-testing which provides improved screening accuracy and efficiency. They continue to transition to the use of thermal ablation as a more acceptable and efficient treatment method —and began sharing their expertise with other organizations in our global technical assistance programs.

Their mission is straightforward yet powerful: to create sustainable, community-led programs that improve women’s health. By training healthcare workers, building local capacity, and empowering communities, they ensure their efforts have a lasting impact long after initial screenings are conducted.
