Good news is on the horizon, coffee buyers!

There are Crown Jewels set to launch all through the month of April, favorites from the Andes topping our list of incoming coffees. While 2023’s austere purchasing led to small quantities of arrivals in the first quarter of this year, I’ve been elbowing my way onto cupping tables and getting first looks at some incredible coffees to revitalize the menu with extraordinary coffees, always with an eye towards continually improving quality, and loyalty to some of our longest-term relationships.

Here’s what’s in the pipeline:

Friday 4/5 – UPDATE: Released

  • Peru – Sibling team Edith and Ivan Meza have done it again at Finca Tasta. We’re dropping two juice-bombs, a zesty washed coffee with notes of lavender and mandarin orange, and an effortlessly clean natural that reminds us of green grape and lychee.
  • Bolivia – Yulissa Chambi makes her third consecutive appearance on the Crown Jewel menu with her natural process (which involves an anaerobic step). It’s extraordinarily clean and reminded us of peaches and rosewater. (Organic)

Friday 4/19

  • Bolivia – Yulissa’s washed coffee debuts, it tastes like lemon-lime soda, kiwi, and lemongrass. (Organic)
  • Peru – Ermitaño Huillca, from the Cusco region, returns to the Crown Jewel menu for a second time. The lavishly full-bodied coffee is irrepressibly silky, with soft notes of plum, vanilla, and violet.
  • Decaf Nicaragua – A nicely timed Central American decaf, this balanced, gentle coffee is full of sweetness and grace. It’s Swiss Water Processed, and certified organic and fairtrade.

ETA Late April

  • Burundi – We’ve got a tiny lot of natural process from Long Miles Mutana washing station, and another small batch of washed coffee from JNP’s Turihamwe Turashibora women’s group, both expected to be very limited runs and very excellent.
  • UPDATE: ETA confirmed – Guatemala  – Bella Carmona washed and natural

Shipping This Month (ETA still TBD)

  • Ecuador – we’re airfreighting a Caturra and a Typica Mejorada from Galo Morales’ Finca Cruz Loma very soon, and it might be on the menu before the end of the month if we’re lucky
  • Mexico – Yolochoxitlan and Mayan Harvest
  • Brazil – Single estate Espirito Santo sourced through FAF
  • Tanzania – Vohora family farm coffee from Ngorongoro including SL28 and Gesha
  • Colombia – Pink Bourbon and Yeast Innoculated coffees from the FNC
  • Costa Rica – natural coffees from Coopedota
  • Kenya – washed classics from the Othaya Cooperative, including Ichamama and Mahiga
  • Ethiopia – early shipments from Hirut Shallo, Desta Gola, and more
  • Sumatra – Red Cherry selection wet hulled from Jagong Mill
